Forever Isn't Long Enough

I really wanted today to be special so I went through my box of memories and gathered some stationary, a coaster and corkscrew from our honeymoon. I also read through a few of our old letters and found one thing to be constant... forever isn't long enough. My husband means the world to me and when I think of the happiest day we shared together I think of our wedding day so I played with some watercolor and this is what I came up with.

Hope you are all able share this day with the one you love, Happy Valentines Day!!

Heart to Heart: Dad

 {a picture of my parents on their wedding day}

Last year was an interesting one because I almost lost my dad. My parents and I are extremely close and would love to have that kind of relationship with my children {when I have them}. I basically communicate with them on a daily basis.

Now my dad is in tip top shape, but he wants to help everyone and didn't know all his worrying was wearing him out internally. Would you believe we are so in tune with each other that I felt his chest pains throughout the day.. when his pain left, so did mine.

Growing up my dad would always sing to wake us up.. " sunshine in the morning makes me happy, sunshine in the morning makes me smile..." Every time the sun rises I can't help but think of him and thank God for giving us more time.

Music Monday: Grenade

Every time this song plays I find myself singing at the top of my lungs con gusto {with feeling}

So many times we give ourselves to people who don't deserve it... such strong lyrics and the video took it to another level!

What are you listening to?

In her Shoes

Loft Tank and Skirt with Havaianas Sandals

With the warm weather here in Florida less is definitely more and I really love keeping it simple while pairing skirts with flip flops sandals.. and these with the extra strap make me feel like I haven't given up completely on footwear.

This locket is actually one of my favorite pieces and I wear it all the time.. It was a gift from my cousin when I was moving away... one side has a picture of my parents and the other of me and my husband right before we got married... It's perfect that its heart shaped because I keep them all very close to me. It reminds me of the poem by E.E. Cummings that was in this movie:

i carry your heart with me

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)

i fear no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

That's Why I love...

People can say what they want but when it comes to Kimora Lee Simmons she's got my complete attention. I enjoy her show on the Style Network and love her confidence along with her drive to work. She motivates me to want to take on more projects in life. And although our taste in purchases are completely different I can agree with this list of hers I found while surfing the web and had to share with all of you... so please share your thoughts with me!!

Kimora's Top 10 Parenting Tips

Kenzo Hounsou, Kimora Lee, Aoki Lee Simmons, Ming Lee Simmons

1. Happiness Is Inside: Great shoes or handbags can make you feel fabulous but only temporarily. It's fun to look cute, but I teach my girls that bliss from material goodies will fade like a candy high if they lack substance underneath all the sparkle and shine.
2. Live Generously: My girls and I regularly go through their rooms to find clothes and toys to donate to charities. I firmly believe that children who have been given so much need to experience the joy that comes from giving. All children can do things to help, whether how big or small—by donating toys or lending a hand in the community.
3. Expose Children to Different Cultures, Places and People: Even if you can't afford to travel the world, you can take your children to the museum, zoo or local park. And don't be afraid to take them to grownup spots. Eating out in a restaurant teaches children how to be quiet and polite—and gives them the pleasure of knowing you trust them to behave.

Double Doors... So Far So Good

Regardless of where I'm living at the moment or have in the past... one thing is certain, the closets are very important to me. Although my closet is no where near the size of an apartment or spare bedroom for that matter, I cant help but be in awe with those that are. Maybe it's the organization of the space or the fact that there is enough clothing and shoes to fill it up completely... either way I fall in love everytime. I admire every single one of the closets above and even more I couldn't find images of... but I want mine to be different, I want mine to reflect me and my personality the same way these are reflecting their owners.

I think a spacious organized closet is key to any stylish person because it's where you decide what to wear for the day.. it helps you to express how your feeling at the moment and when everything you own is in clear sight that decision is not only quicker but less frustrating. The idea of having all of my clothing, shoes and accessories in an organized space with like things together makes me so happy.

I am constantly re-organizing my closet to make it easier for me to decipher what to wear each and everyday and although I'm sure there are more important things in life that I could be doing.. I feel when I'm organized there is a sense of calm that comes over me. lol

What are some of your favorite walk-in closets?

Happy Birthday...

This year has been amazing and I have been looking forward to my birthday for a while now. And usually I dread getting older but this year was different... I was counting down the days. Maybe its because i have so much planned this year and getting older brings me that much closer to the finish line or that I'm comfortable enough with who I am and where I'm going that I realize getting older is part of the process. Either way I have put another year behind me and am looking forward to many more.

The BOB

As I mentioned in a previous post... I'm turning 29 in a couple of weeks and cannot wait for all the things that are yet to come. I always enjoyed my birthday being in the beginning of the year because its a fresh start to making life that much better than it was in the years passed.

With that said I'm cutting my hair to my chin.. its currently a few inches below my shoulders and Ive been wearing it down to enjoy the length before its gone. I've been thinking about cutting it for some time and think now is perfect. Here are some shots I found online that have inspired the change..

Tis The Season...

So a woman at work is collecting toys for tots.. but it turns out its not just babies. There are a lot of children well into their teens who often are left without presents cause we imagine tots being infants. So I got together with my husband, mother and cousin to put together over a dozen presents! I am so excited as these are the best presents I have rounded together thus far this season. Times like these remind me of how fortunate we really are and how lucky we are to be the ones giving...

( I pray that everyone in need gets what they can this season and throughout the rest of their days)

A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words

Seeing this picture immediately reminded me of the classes I had inside that building. I recall spending many years sleep deprived due to late nights of working on projects and assignments to earn my degree. Even though Fashion wasn't my major I have always been surrounded by it and  as  I grow as a person it grows with me.

Just like this picture, its amazing how smells, sounds and objects trigger memories without even trying. What things conjure up memories in your daily life...

Stop & Look

So we were driving through Cocoa and as you can see the train was passing through. Now coming from New York I was used to things being above or below me, but here in Florida things are all around you. As I sat there waiting for the train to pass I thought… 1st: What was the train carrying? and 2nd: How beautiful the clouds looked.

So I wondered, if the train hadn’t stopped me would I have noticed the clouds?
